The design of devices for the isolation from vibrations can be performed only if the mass of the object to be protected is known. Therefore, the weighing test of the case enshrining the Sarcophagus of the Spouses was draw up and it was carried out by the contractor “Tecnologie Lavori Stradali” (TLS), based in Latina. The test setup was made by six hydraulic jacks, belonging to a single circuit through a manifold, connected to a digital pressure gauge and hand pump, as well as by two displacement transducers. The weighing test was repeated twice, for a robust assessment. The weight of the complete case was about 13 kN.
