The shaking table tests on the vibration monitoring and base isolation platform of the Sarcophagus of the Spouses have been completed. The tests were performed on the 2 m x 2 m table of the ENEA Casaccia Research Centre. The platform underwent 74 tests with active devices and 60 tests with locked devices. Both traffic and earthquake excitations were accounted for, the latter both calibrated for the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome site and using what recorded in Amatrice, Italy on August 24, 2016. The system allowed the support of the statue to avoid any sliding to the latter shaking under the natural components and to a record compatible with local hazard amplified more than three times. Traffic accelerations were reduced between 50 and 80%. Finally, the tests allowed to assess the role of torsion bars and alternative accelerometers.
